Not an expert, but I’ve traveled a time or two on behalf of How 2 Wear It and wanted to share a few tips I’ve learned along the way. Hope y’all find this helpful!
- Find a travel buddy –
meetsay hello again to my travel buddy, Laura Leigh! About a year ago, we went on a blogger trip together with 3 other fabulous women. We realized then that we both LOVE experiencing new places, and decided we were going to team up as travel buddies. 🙂 Pretty much every opportunity we get to go away to a new place, we ask the other to come with us! Having been on multiple trips together, we are super familiar with one another’s routines, travel expectations, and meal choices ((super important and easily looked over in my opinion haha!))
- Shoot as much content as you can at the beginning of the trip – Laura Leigh and I try and shoot any outfit posts when we first arrive to a destination. The trip is so much more enjoyable if you get that stuff out of the way. We of course shoot quick shots of our outfits throughout our stay, as well as accommodation snaps in the moment though.
- Reach out to businesses in the area you are going to – Laura Leigh and I always reach out to restaurants, boutiques, winery’s, etc before heading on a trip. I’ve tried so many spots that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise because of this wonderful world of blogging. Forcing me outside of my comfort zone of chain restaurants and department store shopping 😛
- Bring your strengths to the table – I mean I guess this is obvious when concerning anything business related, but thought it was definitely worth mentioning. When traveling with my buddy, Laura Leigh, we each bring our own set of skills to the team and that’s one of the many reasons I love traveling with her! I think I excel in the department of photography and she is a networking PRO! In a group setting we both tend to stay on the quieter side, but put us together and we’re an unstoppable duo haha! “Blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine any brighter”.
- Have fun! – as cliche as it sounds, don’t forget to enjoy yourself while you’re there. It’s a business trip but it’s also an opportunity to have fun! Especially if you’re with your travel buddy ((and great friend!)). Laura Leigh and I have made some hilarious and fun memories on these trips and I can’t wait for many more to come!
