A few weekends ago, I road tripped down to St. Simons Island with Ms. Laura Leigh. Thanks to Toyota, we drove in style in our Toyota Highlander to our destination. LOVED that car! Laura and I kept talking about how smooth the ride was and how we were totally going to get one as our future mom cars 😛 #SUVmoms But anyway, today is all about St. Simons Island and the wonderful place we stayed at while on our trip! I’m going to separate this into a few categories, as to help you get an overall feel of the island. Please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or email me at email@example.com is you have any further questions! Okay, let’s get started ….
While I’m not much of a history buff, that is a quality of the island that is very important to it’s atmosphere and it’s people. We heard many personal stories from the wonderful locals we met while there, and each had a unique and special history with the island. It was so cool being in a place where everyone truly loved and respected their town and took such pride in it! It showed in each of the venues we were able to visit too! Such care to detail and preservation of the rich St. Simons Island history! A couple of the historic places we visited around the island included Christ Church Frederica, St. Simons Island Lighthouse & Museum, and Fort Frederica. I would recommend them all! Especially if you’re the type that likes to explore while on vacation!
Where We Stayed
Now if you’re the type that loves a relaxing, all amenities available, beautiful view kind of vacation – The King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort is for you!! They have close to 30 different room variations making it nearly impossible not to find a room you’ll love! I stayed in one of the Cabana Rooms that looked out unto the beach where I had my own private patio. My bathroom and closet were huge ((which is important for a blogger you know 😉 )) and my bed was so comfy! Our first day there was a long one and I’m pretty sure I slept through the night that night. Like dead as a door nail. Now that’s good sleep! Love falling asleep to the sound of the ocean! The King and Prince has a couple beautiful pools to enjoy, massage packages available, their own golf resort ((located on the far end of the island, and let’s not forget their restaurant! More on that below!
What We Ate
I could go ON AND ON about the food at St. Simons but I’m just going to share with you some shots of meals I had and share my favorite dish at each of the venues. I will say I did not have a single bad meal on this trip and HIGHLY recommend each of these places!
ECHO – this is the hotel’s restaurant and it was my favorite place we ate. I’m usually not a fan of hotel restaurant’s, but ECHO totally changed my mind! If you like sweet treats, get the ECHO doughnuts with chocolate dipping sauce for breakfast!! And for dinner get the Venison Tornados!! Y’all, my mouth is watering as I type this. SO GOOD!!
Georgia Sea Grill – they had wine a wine flight option that I thought was so cool ((I just went with the Prosecco though)) and the Butternut Squash ravioli was the best ravioli I’ve EVER had!
Gnat’s Landing – make sure you get the fried pickles!
Sandcastle Cafe & Grill – if you like bacon, you must eat here for breakfast!! #perfection
What We Did
As mentioned earlier, we took in many historical sites while visiting The Kings and Prince at St. Simons. But Laura Leigh and I also made some time to get in some photo shoots around the many picturesque corners of the island! We had a sunrise shoot on the beach in front of the King and Prince, visited The Stables at Frederica, and even did a beer tasting with the bar staff at The Sea Shack Bar + Bites! Below are sneak peeks of the looks I shot while exploring these locations. Full outfit details below each photo!
I hope you enjoyed this travel guide!! Are you planning on heading to St. Simons anytime soon?! Even if you’re not you should still bookmark or pin this post for future reference!
