Welcome back to Tiny Living Tuesday, a new series on How 2 Wear It all about downsizing, how to organize in a tiny space, pro’s to living tiny, and some moving/home tour vlogs like today! But before we get started on the empty home tour, I want to share with you something I did BEFORE moving that really helped the process. I printed blank floor plans of my apartment layout, measured all my furniture, and “designed” my apartment. Being in a studio means every little bit of space counts and you want to optimize it to it’s full potential! Pre-planning my apartment layout helped for many reasons but here are the top three:
- I realized my queen sized bed was just not optimal for the space. So I decided to store it and get a new full size. ((The next Tiny Living Tuesday post will be all about my new mattress! Spoiler alert – I LOVE IT!))
- I was able to pack according to area so that when unpacking I was able to do it by “room” and reduce the amount of clutter everywhere. #TypeAproblems
- During the moving process it was so easy to direct the movers on where to place each thing. In past apartments I would just have them dump everything in one room and unpack from there, but in a tiny space that’s not possible. This was by far the most helpful reason for pre-planning my apartment layout!
Below is a blank plan of the apartment, and three layout designs. I ended up going with design 3! I can’t wait to show it to y’all all decorated!
And now for the moment y’all have been waiting for ((hahaha – like any of you have been on pins and needles waiting for this but humor me here and act excited 😛 )) .. my empty studio apartment tour!! Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel while you’re at it! There will be more home tour and organization videos to come!
Thanks for stopping by and let me know in the comments below if you’re enjoying this series! It’s one of my favorites to create content for!
