So excited to share with y’all the details of my recent trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina with Courtney, Brittany, and Grace! We did so many fun things, ate a TON of great food, and met some really awesome people. Being born and raised in NC, I’ve always thought it truly is the best state! I mean we have the mountains and the beach and everything in-between. Not to mention it’s southern hospitality at it’s finest!
I’ve broken my guide down into where we stayed, what we ate, and the activities we did. There’s pictures throughout, and a VIDEO recap at the end! Hope this convinces you to visit the Outer Banks!! It was one of the best NC vacations I’ve ever been on!
Where We Stayed
How gorgeous is this house, y’all?! Our place of residence for the weekend was fittingly named, Southern Belle. We couldn’t have enjoyed her more! Well, maybe if if was warm enough and we would’ve been able to swim in that private pool! We each had our own room and bathroom and there was even more room to spare! This is the perfect house for a multi-family vacation in my opinion! The Outer Beaches Realty staff was so incredibly gracious and wonderful people to work with!
What We Ate
Friday Brunch – Tortuga’s Lie
This was my favorite meal of the trip! While it wasn’t the “fanciest”, it was good ‘ole fashion beach food! The restaurant was actually featured on an episode of Diner’s, Drive-in’s, and Dive’s! My family loves that show and watch it pretty regularly, so when I heard we were going to a place from the show I couldn’t wait to try it! I didn’t get what Guy tried on the show, I instead opted for their salmon salad special. I don’t think I’ve had a better salad in my life, NO LIE! You HAVE to eat here when traveling to the Outer Banks. You won’t regret it!
Friday Dinner – Café Pamlico
This was our most upscale meal of the trip. The atmosphere was very adult (( a great option for date night or special “no kids allowed” night 😉 )). The drinks were PHENOMENAL and the food so well thought out. I tried duck for the first time and was very impressed. Mom, if you’re reading this, I think you can official say I’m no longer a picky eater haha.
Seemed like I consumed my body weight in meals on this vacation, and I am FAR FROM complaining! Good food is one of the best parts of vaca, am I right?! Two other places we ate that I would like to mention were Pangea Tavern for dinner Saturday evening and The Dunes Restaurant for breakfast before leaving on Sunday morning. The Dunes reminded me of Cracker Barrel with its quaint little gift shop inside and front porch exterior.
What We Did
Hang Gliding with Kitty Hawk Kites
I must admit, I was nervous for this activity but it was SO fun!! Jockey’s Ridge is gorgeous in and of itself and I could have spent hours just taking in the views. Check out the video below to see me in action!!
Horseback riding on the beach with Equine Adventures
I haven’t ridden a horse since I was like 7 years old. They are gorgeous and gentle creatures, but I have just never been the “outdoorsy” type, and therefore never a big fan of going horseback riding. This activity was such a cool experience for many reasons. One – even though we were in a large group, there was a lot of time I spent thinking while riding for about 2 1/2 hours. Two – my horse, Romeo, was SO SWEET and I just found it amazing how big and strong, yet gentle he was. I would for sure recommend this activity, but you will be sore the next day!
Spa day with Koru Village
The other girls opted for massages while I got a pedicure 🙂 I have never had a massage before and actually don’t really like anyone “massaging” me EVER haha so I thought a pedicure would be a much more relaxing experience. All the girls said their massages were incredible though ((ask for Josh!)).
Shopping with Real Water Sports
Thats where I got my new Patagonia pullover featured in this post. The Manager, Lulu, was the sweetest! If you’re ever there shopping, ask for her and she’ll get you hooked up with the cutest new arrivals!
Below is a short video I put together on my YouTube channel of snippets from my snapchat that weekend, and our hang gliding GoPro footage.
I couldn’t thank Martin and the other vendors enough for hosting such an unforgettable weekend! Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions you might have on any aspect of the trip! I would love to help!
