Y’all, how cute is my Mom?! My sense of style and love for all things fashion and shopping is all because of her! Personality wise we couldn’t be more opposite, but that’s why we make a great duo. She has an opinion and isn’t afraid to voice it, but because of that I have learned so many things about the world ((not just fashion!)) that I truly thank her for. I thought it would be fun to do a little Q&A with mom so y’all could learn more about her! So here we go!
Q: In regards to style, are you the classic mom, trendy mom, the mom who has everything, or the logo-loving mom?
Mom’s Answer: I have a classic style but also enjoy trying some trends. I couldn’t live without my white button ups but think it’s fun when I find one with a modern flare like the one I’m wearing here. I also have always been conscious of age appropriate trends and only choose to try the ones that fit in with my existing wardrobe.
My answer: I agree with her, but would also dub her the mom who has everything. I say this because she has a good eye for the trends that will turn into classics ((ie flare jeans, Vera Bradley travel bags, jean jackets, and more)) and she buys great quality pieces of those varieties and then is able to keep them for years! She wore a nautical inspired rain jacket the other day that I loved and when I asked her where it was from she said, “This? Its 25 years old. Guess we can now call it vintage! 😛 “
Q: What is your best style advice?
Mom’s Answer: Always present your best self! Even at small “events” such as picking the kids up from school, grocery shopping, or heading to a basketball game I am still very conscious of my wardrobe. Never know who you could meet!!
My answer: To back that up, she really does implement this motto in her every day. People tell her ALL the time that she always looks so put together, and they are right! She does not own a t-shirt, I repeat, does not own a t-shirt! Haha. She’s so fabulous she sleeps in soft v-necks and PJ pants. Until I got to college, I didn’t really realize that sleeping in t-shirts was what pretty much everyone did. So, even while sleeping my mom was teaching me to present my best self. Talk about practicing what you preach!
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do?
Mom’s Answer: TRAVEL! I have been across most of the US ((my dad’s job required LOTS of traveling when I was growing up and I moved more times than I can count on both of my hands!)), visited China, Paris, and Belize ((a third world country)). I love experiencing new places and sharing them with my kids as well.
My Answer: Mom is always on the go and of course doing it in style! She has perfected the art of packing and knows exactly what type, size, color, etc of the luggage and bags she needs to carry for trips.
Q: Speaking of travel, what’s your go-to bag for travel?
Mom’s answer: One of my Vera Bradley cross-body’s! They have little to no weight which is KEY when jumping from car, to plane, to walking around site seeing all day! I love taking my classic black ones with me on European trips and my fun printed ones on tropical vacations like Belize! As a mom, I am kind of the catch all for everyone’s “stuff” when we are traveling and love a lightweight bag with lots of pockets! Who wants to carry around a huge leather tote when you are trying to get through TSA and your 5 kids are handing you their passports, iPads, snacks, and hats all to stuff in your bag?! Not me!
My answer: Since I can remember my mom has been carrying Vera and I have definitely grown to love the brand just as much as her! I am so thankful that I have had the opportunity to work with the Vera team on a regular basis! Pinch me!
Q: What’s your favorite part of being a mom?
Mom’s Answer: That’s a hard one!!! But I think the most rewarding part of it, is seeing the outcome and successes of my children as a result of the hard work and love I put into them! I have five children ranging in ages from 27 to 13 and every year brings new challenges, blessings, sometimes more children haha, and LOTS and LOTS of laughs. I love every minute of it!
My answer: It’s also hard for me to choose the thing I love most about my mom. We are complete opposites but I think that’s why I feel I can talk to her about just about anything. She usually gives me a totally different perspective on any given situation which helps me make wise and thorough decisions. I also love that she irons all my clothes. Haha! I HATE ironing and to this day, I bring my ironing home when I visit and she does it for me 🙂 Notice the freshly ironed outfit above? All her!
Q: Describe your daughter’s style.
Mom’s answer: Southern classic. This has been her style since she was little girl. Big bows, smocked dresses, lace socks, and “Yes ma’am, I’ll have some sweet tea” with a southern drawl to go with it. Check out “little Morgan” below haha!
My answer: Classic everyday glam. I agree with mom that I am greatly influenced by southern fashion, but as I’ve grown I like to add more glam touches like statement earrings and lots of bracelets.
I hope y’all enjoyed getting to know Momma Flinchum! Happy Mother’s Day! Love you Mom!!
